O vereador Nivaldo Magagnin (MDB), de 63 anos, morreu na manhã desta quarta-feira (9/9) após ser atingido por uma carga de aproximadamente uma tonelada de batatas em Treze de Maio (SC). Conhecido como “Nivaldo da Batata”, ele trabalhava no momento do acidente. Ele era proprietário de uma empresa de comercialização e beneficiamento do tubérculo.
Segundo informações divulgadas sobre o caso, a carga estava armazenada em uma saca do tipo “big bag” e suspensa a cerca de dois metros de altura quando o cabo de aço que a sustentava se rompeu. O vereador teria sido prensado contra o chão. Equipes de resgate foram acionadas, mas ele não resistiu. As circunstâncias do acidente e a causa exata da morte ainda serão investigadas.

Nivaldo havia completado 63 anos na terça-feira (8/9), um dia antes do acidente. A Prefeitura de Treze de Maio lamentou a morte e decretou luto oficial de três dias.
O município também destacou a trajetória de Magagnin na vida pública e afirmou que o período de luto foi estabelecido pelo Decreto nº 073/2026. “Neste momento de tristeza, a Administração Municipal se solidariza com familiares, amigos, colegas e toda a comunidade, desejando força e conforto a todos”, informou em nota.
